Sunreef Yachts has just launched the first example of its new Eco range. Though this might be an 80-footer, it is equipped with very advanced ecological technology, with the aim of envisaging cruising that’s entirely self-sufficient in terms of energy, that’s non-polluting, and silent... all without forgoing the luxury common to every Sunreef catamaran. The 80 Eco is capable, as announced, of supplying up to 36 kWp thanks to its innovative solar panels (ultralight, they are integrated into the hulls, the mast, the superstructures and the bimini). The electric propulsion is provided by twin 180 kW motors. Under sail, the Sunreef 80 Eco produces energy from the rotation of its two propellers. This hydrogeneration system is capable of producing more than 15 kWh when sailing at over 7 knots.
