For their second attempt this winter to attack the Jules Verne Trophy, Charles Caudrelier and Franck Cammas’ crew have set off with their foot to the floor. 48 hours after crossing the start line off Ushant, they were already at the latitude of the Canary Islands! It is more than 26 knots average on the direct route. And they will have to keep up this pace for more than a month, the excellent time set by Francis Joyon and his crew on Idec being 40 days, 23 hours and 30 minutes.
But the weekend looks more complicated, with a very active Doldrums area, but the images taken by mediaman Yann Riou’s drone, while they were level with Madeira, are impressive. This is undeniably THE video of the week. And make sure you watch to the very end, to see the recovery of the drone aboard a boat sailing at 35 knots!
