The Multihulls World team went to visit Vision Yachts, at their base in Knysna, South Africa. There we met the shipyard's charismatic founder and CEO, James Turner.
A sailor first and foremost, our man is not so much a jack-of-all-trades but more master of them all when it comes to building a catamaran. He developed the specifications for the Vision 444, a robust yet lightweight and high-performance blue water catamaran. Inside, this multihull boasts particularly generous headroom (6’11”/2.1 m in the nacelle and 6’2”/1.89 m in the cabins). The construction is in infusion, and all technical components are carefully assembled to facilitate maintenance operations. The 444, currently the only model in the range, was launched in 2019. Since then, some fifteen units have been built, with the pace accelerating over the last 12 months to 5 hulls.
