Opened just over four years ago, the La Rochelle branch of the Sevenstar shipping company has proven to be a wise move, as the operator has established itself as the leading multihull transport operator in France, shipping dozens of units from La Rochelle on France’s Atlantic seaboard to the east coast of the United States every year.
At the end of 2020, the decision to drop anchor in La Rochelle was motivated by the presence of suitable local infrastructure - both for cargo ships with the port of La Pallice and for recreational craft with the port of Les Minimes, whose 5,157 slips make it the largest marina in the world, no less... Not to mention that the region, within a radius of 150 km/90 mi, already produces 70% of French sailing boats.
In fact, the setting-up of Sevenstar in La Rochelle has led many owners, builders, brokers and charter companies to favor the services of the shipping company and thus reinforce the city’s status as an unmissable maritime hub. “From March through September,” explains Elodie Le Blevennec, manager of the La Rochelle office, “We offer four confirmed crossings from La Rochelle to the Mediterranean, connecting the main yachting centers from Gibraltar to Istanbul, with stopovers in Palma de Mallorca, the French Riviera, Italy, the Adriatic, Greece and Turkey. In addition, we offer monthly departures from La Rochelle to the east coast of the United States and the Caribbean, including major destinations such as Baltimore, Palm Beach, St. Thomas and Martinique.”
Building on its success in La Rochelle, Sevenstar is further strengthening its infrastructure - a new office, a 5,000 m² (54,000 square feet) warehouse and a 30 m (100-foot) berth - and opening a new direct route to Guadeloupe.
