The market for performance-oriented catamarans under 45 feet has been virtually flat since the ORC42 (born TS 42) was dropped from the catalog. Fortunately, naval architects Christophe Barreau and Frédéric Neuman are sticking to their guns and designing multihulls that are exciting to sail - and inevitably reserved for seasoned sailors.
The 43-footer they’ve designed here is a logical extension of the ORC42 program and perfectly complements the impressive GP70 (a VPLP design) offered by the Trimarine yard. We’re not yet dealing with a complete range of cruiser-racers, but it looks like it all the same. Thanks to its meticulous composite construction, the Trimarine 43 will be two to three times lighter than a mass-produced catamaran of the same size... the atmosphere on board will focus on the pleasure of sailing, minimalist layout and maximum autonomy. This model will be largely customizable, with hull #1 due to be launched in 2025.
