The Hydroptère re-launched

It's back in the water, and this time things are going to become really serious...

The Hydroptère has just been re-launched to now attack ocean records, with the aim of validating a few options for the future maxi-foiler still on Alain Thébault's drawing board, 'Libryd'. After a few tests in the Mediterranean, the Hydroptère will be taken on a cargo ship to San Francisco. From there, the 'flying boat' will try to take the record for crossing the Pacific: quite a challenge for the boat, which remains the first to have broken the 50-knot barrier over 500 metres, with a top speed of 56.3 knots. But the difference between the speed run and an ocean record is a large step that the Hydroptère's emblematic skipper really wants to take.
An adventure which we will be following with great interest, of course...
