72km long by 13.8 wide, Lake Geneva is a complicated racing area, with its long croissant-shape, where the conditions are particularly changeable. The Bol d'Or is a 75-mile race, with 469 boats on the start line this year – more than 3000 professional and amateur crew members for the biggest race in Europe on a closed stretch of water... To remind you, the record over this course has been held since 2007 by the Décision 35 Julius Baer, at 4h 53min, whilst the longest Bol d'Or lasted for 31h 54min in 1962…
The 74th edition took place in the middle of June, and was won by the Decision 35 RealstoneSailing, sailed by a crew whose average age is just 25, in 10h 52min, ahead of Rham Sotheby's and Zen Too.
