Grand Large Yachting, represented mainly in the multihull sector by its Outremer Yachting and Gunboat brands, is taking over the Marsaudon Composites shipyard.
The builder, based at Lorient in western France, had been in financial difficulty since the beginning of the summer, and on the opening day of the Cannes Yachting Festival, the Lorient Commercial Court announced that Grand Large Yachting has taken over the assets and also the teams from Marsaudon Composites, as well as the ORC brand. Among a number of bids, the one by Grand Large was apparently preferred for its overall coherence and guaranteed employment. In concrete terms, the Outremer 45 will very shortly be being produced in Lorient – at the imposing site of the former submarine base - which will bring immediate activity to the new location, while offering greater production capacity at their homeport of La Grande-Motte. In a second phase, Grand Large Yachting is set to relaunch the ORC range, which currently comprises three models - ORC 42, 50 and 57.
