Nacra : 45 years of sports cats !

Nacra was founded in 1975 by Tom Roland in Santa Ana, California. His first boat, the Nacra 5.2 (photo), was faster and more modern than the eccentric Hobie 16.

But was it less fun? Maybe... but the 5.2 still sold 8,000 units and created, in record time, a solid reputation for the brand. The company continued to launch fast sports catamarans, eventually moving to the Netherlands in 2007. 2012 was the year of ultimate recognition for the builder: their Nacra 17 was chosen by the ISAF as a mixed two-handed catamaran for the Olympic Games. The latest new model: the Nacra F18 Evolution, now the 5th optimization of the mythical Formula 18 that was launched back in 2008!
