Those who consider inflatable sailboats to be toys will be well advised: the next MiniCat model is being tested in the Great North!
The MiniCat expedition team set off from northern Norway to sail for a week beyond the Arctic Circle, then on to the Arctic, scheduled for August. Several prototypes of the forthcoming 520 are being validated in extreme conditions. This new model - the largest in the MiniCat range - is clearly designed for coastal trips, as evidenced by its numerous tubes, a load capacity close to 300 kg (660 lbs) and, above all, the “MiniCat Pod”, a sort of watertight protective bubble positioned on the forward deck. This shelter offers a safe, protected place to store equipment and personal belongings. It is easily removable and can be used as a tent for the night ashore. Series production of the MiniCat 520 is scheduled to start later this year.
