Silent Yacht and SpaceX join forces

Electricat manufacturer Silent Yachts has announced a partnership (the first in the production yachting industry) with SpaceX, the U.S. rocket and reusable spacecraft company founded by Elon Musk, to offer the new Starlink Maritime satellite Internet service to its customers.

SpaceX is able to deliver reliable broadband services via its satellite network to virtually anywhere in the world at unprecedented speeds. SpaceX's maritime Internet service is already operational in a good portion of the world's oceans, and coverage is expected to grow exponentially over the coming months. At public rates, the Starlink Maritime installation costs $10,000 and the monthly subscription is charged at $5,000. It's unclear at this point what rates Silent Yachts will offer to buyers of its electric catamarans. Either way, it’s interesting to see green entrepreneurs developing agreements with each other rather than with other partners…
