FC Cube 125’

That’s probably what makes this 125-foot racer, soon to be built in Lorient, France in a vast, brand-new, 16,000-sqaure-foot (1,500 m²) shed, all the more incredible.

The objective of the client, an experienced and demanding sailing industrialist, was to build a boat capable of sailing regularly and comfortably at speeds in excess of 30 knots. As a result, the architects have opted for very fine hulls. The emphasis is therefore on performance and design, with the weight logically reduced (to 80 tons, 37 of which are carbon composite). The FC Cube 125 will feature two curved daggerboards, and all sailing maneuvers will be controlled from the flybridge.

The interior layout features an owner’s suite, 4 guest cabins and 2 crew cabins. The designers are also keen to limit the ecological impact of their project: the number of disposable molds has been reduced in favor of flat sections produced without molds. The shipyard will also be reusing decommissioned aeronautical prepreg carbon. When sailing, the FC Cube 125 will be fitted with 1,500 square feet (140 m²) of solar panels.

The launch of Nomad VII, as the new boat is to be called, is scheduled for 2026.
