1985: Philippe Jeantot created a company to develop the catamaran he would like to skipper himself, to set off on a voyage with his family. Privilege catamarans was created. In the 90s, the builder continued to innovate, by being one of the very first to offer a motor catamaran, the Euphorie 40, which would then become the 44. Then followed the Transcat 42 and 48 in the 2000s, which appealed to a good number of prospective cruisers.
2018: the builder Privilège Marine presents its brand-new motor catamaran for its world premiere at the Cannes Boat Show. The Euphorie 5 takes the name of its famous predecessor, which in its time was a real success, with over 50 boats sold.
To design this new motor catamaran, Privilège Marine called on its emblematic architect, Marc Lombard. On the basis of the Série 5, he has completely re-worked the hulls, to suit them to their new use, receiving bigger engines and of course offering better lift. The flybridge provides new living areas, as do the big cockpit and the exceptional owner’s cabin, specific to all the builder’s boats.
The first outings of the number 1 in the series (equipped with two 320 hp engines) have been particularly conclusive, with a cruising speed of 15 knots and a maximum of 22 knots. The range is therefore nearly 900 miles at 7.45 knots and 345 miles at 10 knots.
A boat which can be seen at Cannes, then, and a concept the builder really wants to develop, by further increasing the range with new tanks and by optimizing the engine power.
