Echo Yachts 57’

The world’s largest recreational catamaran?

Australian custom superyacht specialist Echo Yachts has just announced the signing of a contract to build a 57-meter (187-foot) aluminum catamaran.

This yacht, which has been commissioned by an experienced private client, is set to be the world’s largest recreational catamaran... the current one being none other than Charley 2, delivered in 2023 by Echos Yachts! The builder is definitely familiar with this kind of record - we featured the incredible 84 m (275’) aluminum trimaran White Rabbit delivered in 2018.
For this 57, the shipyard called on the famous Dykstra Naval Architects. The Amsterdam-based firm is the author of such magnificent units as Black Pearl and Maltese Falcon. Both these yachts are monohulls, but they are equipped with three self-supporting masts with electrically controlled sails... precisely the type of rig chosen for the 57, but “only” in a two-masted schooner configuration. The design of this yacht, whose structural calculations were entrusted to Australia’s One2Three Naval Architects, gives an idea of the incredible comfort that will be offered, but the most interesting aspect is undoubtedly the “green” vision of the project. In addition to hulls specially optimized for high average speeds, the 1,660 m² (17,870 square feet) of sail area will be deployed to the maximum to ensure eco-efficient long-distance cruising. Weight reduction, simplicity and ease of use will also characterize this luxurious catamaran.
