Bourgnon, Monsieur Plus !

There's no stopping him: after the Mediterranean crossing, then sailing round Cape Horn on a sport cat, Yvan Bourgnon has just beaten a new record, again on his little catamaran, measuring just 6.1m: 344 miles in 24 hours.

With his crew, Thibaut Vauchel they set off from Brazil once the weather conditions allowed, to try and go as fast as possible for 24 hours. The hardest part was of course the night, when they had to keep the spinnaker up in the complete blackness to sail as fast as possible, keeping the best angle possible with respect to the wind. Result: an average of 14.33 knots over 24 hours, and the aim of sailing more than 600km easily achieved (344 miles = 637 km). But how far will Yvan go? The answer in the next edition…
