An epic Bol d’Or…

Every year the Bol d’Or, raced on Lake Geneva, puts on an incredible show.

Sometimes violent, with tough conditions which make sailing these overpowered boats complicated, the race can on the contrary be very difficult when the wind is absent. This 80th edition was particularly 'Genevan', meaning that it was raced in very light wind conditions. Results: the 500+ boats entered had to battle for more than 14 hours – over a 66.5-mile course – for the better boats to cross the finish line. Less than a mile from the line as it happens, the conditions completely re-dealt the cards, allowing Mobimo to win, ahead of Okalys-Youth Project and Ylliam-Comptoir Immobilier. Alinghi finished 4th and Safram 5th.
