AC72

A First Luxury Catamaran from Advanced Yachts

The reputation of Italian builder Advanced Yachts is well established... in the world of performance monohulls. But, sensitive to market trends, the company can no longer afford to ignore multihulls, and so now we have the AC72.

It’s easy to decipher the initials as Advanced Catamarans, but the name is also a nod to the original AC72s, those that competed in the 2013 America’s Cup.

Designed by Californian naval architects Reichel/Pugh, the aim has been to combine luxury with high performance, for a wide range of cruising and racing applications. Construction will be in glass/foam/epoxy sandwich with carbon reinforcements and coachroof.

Of course, the builder claims “Made in Italy” status, and has worked on the design down to the smallest detail. But it is undoubtedly in terms of technological innovation that the AC72 should try to stand out from the competition (Gunboat, HH and McConaghy come to mind), with advanced navigation systems, automated sail controls and real-time data monitoring, guaranteeing both safety and performance.

The AC72 will be available in three different layouts and finishing styles. In all these cases, you’ll enjoy a huge saloon that’s completely open onto the cockpit and its 33-foot (10 m) wide sundeck, a forward lounge and a vast flybridge.
