The little sistership to the Dufour 48 was announced at the Cannes Yachting Festival, but we had to wait a while... not so long as it turns out, since this brand-new catamaran has just been launched.
To begin with, don't be surprised by this model's double name: Fountaine Pajot's takeover of the Dufour brand explains why the use of the Dufour Catamarans name is valid in France and Italy, for example, but not in other countries, where the name Cervetti 44 has been adopted. But whichever name, this model, like the 48, is set to make its mark on the Croatian charter market, and elsewhere too...The new 44 features the inverted bows of its predecessor, with a greater angle and, above all, more width. The composite bowsprit is also retained. On the other hand, the nacelle – all proportions considered – offers more generous volume. Inverted glazing should prove highly effective in keeping the interior cool. The flybridge design features an XXL sunbathing area and a central helm station protected by a bimini. The foredeck extends far enough forward to provide a decent relaxation space, but there's still a small trampoline, though. In terms of performance, the upwind sail area/displacement ratio is 8.48 m²/t, which, in theory, suggests a placid temperament. But the powerful 1,075-square foot (100 m²) gennaker will certainly add some welcome horsepower!
