The Bénéteau group is launching Excess Catamarans

Multihulls have got the wind in their sails. Global production has almost doubled in just a few years and new brands are appearing regularly.

And at the opening of the Cannes Yachting Festival, the world number 1 in boat production - the Bénéteau group - has confirmed the arrival of a new player. Excess Catamarans is going to be complementary to Lagoon (which belongs to the Bénéteau group and is already leader in the global catamaran market) with a positioning that is clearly more focused on performance under sail. The first drawings suggest a modern boat equipped with two helm stations, aft on each hull. A boat for enjoyable sailing, which will remain pleasant to live on, as much as at anchor as underway on a long passage.

We’re going to have to wait for the Düsseldorf show to have more information, but we can already tell you that the pool of architects and designers working on the early stages of the newcomer is particularly recognized both in the world of ocean racing and cruising catamarans...

Hull number 1 in the series will be officially presented at the autumn shows in 2019. See a video presentation on www.multihulls-world.com
