Like us, you enjoyed the incredible spectacle offered by the catamarans of the 35th America's Cup, but you were sorry to know that the next cup will be sailed in... monohulls (flying ones, agreed, but monohulls all the same)?
Well here’s something to lift your spirits!
A new circuit will be appearing in 2019. It will run on one-design, 50 foot catamarans with rigid wingsails, capable of top speeds in excess of 50 knots.
Six teams have been pre-selected, coming from six different nations (Australia, China, France, Great Britain, Japan and USA) and will do battle in five meets already scheduled in Sydney (AUS), San Francisco ( USA), New York (USA), Cowes (UK) and the grand final in Marseille (FRA).
Devised by Larry Ellison and Sir Russell Coutts, this circuit has prize money of 1,000,000 US dollars. Which should motivate the crews...
