A new crazy challenge for Yvan Bourgnon!

Setting out from, and then returning to Brest after making a descent of the Atlantic, passing Cape Horn, forcing a way through the roaring forties and furious fifties which scream their way around the Antarctic, then greeting the Cape of Good Hope... This is the course for the last big solo record attempt on a multihull, which so far, nobody has yet been able to claim!

This is Yvan Bourgnon’s last crazy dream, before the next one: to become the first skipper in the world to succeed in circumnavigating, solo, on a multihull and against the prevailing winds! In late 2019, he will be tackling this new and unique challenge.

It is onboard Francis Joyon’s former “IDEC”, a true racing machine designed for solo planetary records, that Yvan Bourgnon will cross the starting line in Brest, with the goal of returning in under 100 days. For this challenge, he will be able to rely on his solid experience as a multihull preparer, his great knowledge of all the seas and oceans of the globe, and especially on his capacity to take up exploits others would consider impossible (Circumnavigation in 2015 and transiting the Northwest Passage in 2017 on a sports catamaran).

This challenge is unique and exceptional, because somewhere, this final uncharted territory for sailors seeks a new hero, but also by the exceptional commitment, both technical boat and mental, of the skipper, to ensure success. We have no doubt that Yvan will quickly find the necessary financial support to achieve this masterpiece combining human values and exceptional engineering. Of course we will be following him throughout the preparations for this new challenge so stay tuned!
