In today’s digital age, a navigation compass is still useful (indeed, mandatory) if only in the event of a power failure. We’ve taken a look at the Explorer V-537, designed primarily for small and medium-sized boats.
Simple to install on any type of bulkhead or dashboard, it’s also easy to use. Easy-to-adjust built-in compensators allow the unit to be installed anywhere, including close to steel or aluminum parts. The compass is also equipped with standard 12 V illumination. The 70 mm dial of the Explorer Bulkhead Mount compass is fitted on a hardened steel swivel movement with a sapphire jewel. This ensures a fast, steady course, without the rotating and jumping frequently encountered with other compasses. The tracked course remains visible with a heel of up to 25°, which is far more than sufficient on a multihull. The Explorer V-537 compass is 100% repairable and comes with a five-year warranty.
