Nautex International is a marine equipment distributor based in La Rochelle, France. Among the many products available, steering wheels represent a major part of the company’s business, with models available in fiberglass, carbon and custom.
Fiberglass steering wheels are manufactured in a single piece without gluing, giving a highly resistant monocoque structure. The anodized aluminum hub is integrated into the mold. The advantages are many, starting with lightness compared with a stainless-steel equivalent (2 to 3 times lighter). Other plus points include ease of handling, grip, a wide choice of colors, diameters ranging from 700 to 1,700 mm (27½” to 67”), and to add to all that, a competitive price.
If you’re the proud owner of a high-performance multihull, you might want to consider carbon steering wheels. Those from Carbonautica are manufactured in a single piece; they combine strength, weight minimization and are fully compliant with EU recreational craft directives and ISO 8847 certified. Stainless steel or anodized aluminum hubs are available.
For the most demanding sailors, Nautex International works in partnership with a number of shipyards to produce customized steering wheels “à la carte” according to the customer’s needs.
Finally, if you own a powercat, Nautex International also offers a whole range of steering wheels adapted to the needs of power multihulls.
