Flexofold, a specialist in folding propellers, has presented a brand-new three-bladed model at boot Düsseldorf.
Building on the success of the two-bladed composite propeller, the Flexofold Saildrive is designed to reduce weight without compromising efficiency – and indeed to optimize performance. The hub is made from a lightweight composite material, while the blades are made from copper alloy. Its low weight makes this new propeller the ideal complement to electric motors.
Made largely from composite materials, the Flexofold Saildrive is virtually impervious to electrolysis, a considerable advantage when sailing in salt water.
Another advantage of the composite propeller body is that it effectively minimizes the risk of electrical transfer between the saildrive and the blades, improving the durability of both the propeller and the saildrive system.
