Aceleron Essential

A repairable and recyclable lithium battery

Why are lithium batteries the preferred choice aboard all our cruising multihulls?

First of all, thanks to a much more favorable power to weight ratio than traditional lead-acid technology, and secondly, because the number of charge/discharge cycles climbs from 500 to 1,000. The most recent LiFePO4 batteries, such as the Aceleron, even promise 5,000 cycles! But this new battery, that won a Dame Award at Amsterdam’s METS 2022, has even more advantages thanks to its Battery Management System (BMS), which is easy to remove, and its fully independent cells. This means that it's possible to check and replace a defective element if necessary. A feature that also ensures that recycling the battery at the end of life is much easier. It also boasts a USB port and carrying handle. The only drawback? The price.
