Times are getting tougher for shows that are far from the sea - witness the cancellation of Nautic en Seine, the event that was to replace the Paris Boat Show. But when it comes to the indoor shows, nothing is going better than the last of the dinosaurs, the famous boot Düsseldorf, that’s not doing so badly this year, as it retains its 16 exhibition halls. In the absence of Paris and co., boatbuilders and equipment manufacturers are keeping the German event going for the time being.
As far as sailing multihulls are concerned, apart from the eagerly-awaited Dragonfly 36, which will be on show as a world preview, and the Excess 11, which remains true to form, there’s nothing there to make us dream - even though the shipyards’ booths will be more numerous than last year. It’s worth noting, however, that the powercat manufacturers will be attending, including Yot and Prestige. Multihull manufacturers’ lack of interest in indoor events can be explained by transport costs and a less-than-green image, but also by the fact that the parade of “winter showrooms” set up during the Covid period proved so attractive that it is now firmly established in Europe, and in an even more permanent format in the USA.
The in-water shows, on the other hand, have the wind in their sails: Cannes, Annapolis, Miami and, of course, La Grande-Motte (currently the only 100% multihull show) have no trouble filling up with exhibitors and visitors.
A new event dedicated to forever-green yachting is due to open its doors for the first time in the fall: Nice Boating Tomorrow.
As for the Multihulls World team, with a presence on both sides of the Atlantic, we’re making sure we’re attending as many events as possible! Would you like to meet us? We’ll be there at all the shows that bear the Multihulls World logo.
