CDK Technologies delivered their fourth giant multihull, Armel Le Cléac'h's Ultim Banque Populaire XI, on April 27th in Lorient, Brittany, having previously splashed Banque Populaire V (now Yann Guichard's Spindrift 2) back in 2007, François Gabart's Macif in 2015, and Armel le Cléac'h's previous Banque Populaire IX in 2017.
CDK Technologies, the main contractor for the build, subcontracted the central hull and floats to their partners Multiplast in Vannes, also in Brittany, and Fibre Mechanics in Lymington, in the UK. The new maxi trimaran, bearing the signature of naval architecture firm VPLP and Gsea Design for the structural calculations, features innovations such as a cockpit and foils that are twice of the size as on the previous generations. The multihull is more robust to better integrate the constraints of foiling. It took 24 months, 150,000 hours of work and more than 100 people to complete the build.
