The goal of France’s “Association des Multicoques Habitables” (The Cruising Multihull Association) is to administer the Multi2000 rule, which, under agreement with the French Sailing Federation, allows multihulls to be ranked on corrected time. Since 2022, the Association has had a new team at the helm, which has launched the Multi2000 Trophy.
The 1st edition took place out of Port-Haliguen in Brittany in September 2022. The event brought together 13 multihulls of all types: Formula 40s (tri and cat), a TF10 (foiler), a Morelli proto, as well as Dragonfly, Farrier and Dazcat boats. The diversity of this class is certainly one of its strengths!
This year, the second edition of the Trophée Multi2000 will take place at Port-la-Forêt, Brittany, on September 23 and 24, with the support of the La Vallée des Fous Club who will be actually organizing the races on the water. Port La Forêt is already a well-known venue for racing sailors - as evidenced by the establishment of the Pôle Finistère offshore racing center - and the holding of several Multi2000 events with the Multicup Bigship since 2018 and more recently, off-season Multi2000 training sessions. This 2023 edition is hoped to feature more multihulls than last year, when many potential competitors were busy preparing for the Route du Rhum transatlantic race.
