Triexplorer

6,000-mile range

Marcelo Penna Yacht Design, based in Barcelona, Spain, has unveiled a 185-foot (56.65 m) exploration trimaran.

The design, featuring a long central hull and shorter floats, was chosen for three reasons - to have a deck area of more than 6,000 square feet (600 m²), to limit fuel consumption (6,000-mile range) and to ensure perfect stability. The Triexplorer, designed to explore the most remote areas of the planet, will be built in aluminum for greater strength. The trimaran also guarantees a minimal environmental impact thanks to diesel propulsion combined with a hybrid system. The multiyacht will also be equipped with a large area of solar panels. Comfort is guaranteed for the owner: there will be a spacious dedicated suite with office, lounge and private pool. The Triexplorer can accommodate up to 12 guests, who will enjoy a gym, a sauna, a library and even a cinema. The deck has been designed to accommodate several tenders, a helipad, a permanent helicopter hangar, a submarine, a diving area and a beach club area. The maximum speed will be 20 knots (with a 15-knot cruising speed). A crew of 20 is expected to be aboard for operating this multiyacht.
