Transat Jacques Vabre Normandy Le Havre

On course for Martinique!

For its 15th edition, the Route du Café is heading towards Fort-de-France, in Martinique. Launched in 1993, this double-handed race has always started from Le Havre, in Normandy, but has had varied destinations - Cartagena in Colombia, both Salavador de Bahia and Itajai in Brazil, and Puerto Limón in Costa Rica. The race is open to four classes - among them, the Multi50s and the Ultims.

In addition to its new port of arrival, this edition will feature tailor-made courses: the Multi50s will first have to round the Brazilian archipelago of Fernando de Noronha, a nod to the race's most frequent destination (eight editions have been held in Brazil). The total represents 5,800 nautical miles. As for the Ultims, they will have to go around another Brazilian archipelago, off Rio de Janeiro - Trindade and Martim Vaz - making a total distance of 7,500 nm. Departure is scheduled for November 7. Also worthy of note for this 2021 edition: a desire to innovate on environmental issues, support for more women to be involved in ocean racing and the creation of a fifth official class, the Virtual Regatta!
