Record for crossing the English Channel -The iFLY15 is ready to take up the challenge again!

Set in August 2018 at 19h 47m 31s by Yvan and Mathis Bourgnon aboard a Nacra F-20, this Channel crossing record is not so easy to beat... The 138 miles between Cowes and Dinard represent first of all the longest possible crossing of this stretch of water separating Great Britain from France.

Then this route is subject to strong tides, often capricious weather, and finally non-stop shipping traffic. But more than that would have been needed to discourage Bavarian engineer Michael-Ernst Miller, inventor of the iFLY15. In the summer of 2019, a first attempt led by Yo Wiebel and Tamara Baumann came close to success... before getting caught in the night-time calm off the coast of Saint-Malo. Michael-Ernst and his crew, convinced that the small foiling catamaran (see test in MW154) can beat the record, have just announced a new attempt scheduled for this coming July.
