The wonderful racing circuit dedicated to the Ocean Fifty (formerly the Multi50) began in Brest, France, on May 19th taking the 7 trimarans entered down to La Rochelle. A month later, the fleet is back in the Canary Islands, starting from Las Palmas, the capital of Gran Canaria, where a wide variety of courses have been launched.
With a route around Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura in heavy seas, and a coastal course along the famous urban beach of Las Canteras, the seven crews have been putting all their effort into trying to take the lead in the rankings, but for the time being this, remains the property of Leyton, skippered by Sam Goodchild. But what's next? A long offshore race will take the fleet from Toulon, on France’s Mediterranean coast, to Brest, on the Atlantic coast. And in between, the entire Spanish and Portuguese coastlines...
