Pagurus

An amphibious catamaran

The talented designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini is also presenting this project under the name “crabmaran”. And true to that name, this steel and carbon catamaran has been designed to move on soft ground - sand or mud - thanks to its four motorized cylinders which are actually helical screws.

Under way, the cylinders retract a little, though not completely, in order to generate energy from moving through the water - twin 890 HP engines ensure a maximum speed of 24 knots. An electric drivetrain and a large area of solar panels are also provided. The central platform has a large load elevator operated by four winches, making it possible to carry vehicles. In each hull, two or three cabins are installed in addition to the galley and bathrooms. Pagurus can accommodate up to 8 passengers, plus 4 crew members.
