Open C Yachts have added an astonishing catamaran to their already very eclectic range. The new model can boast of being one of the lightest blue water multihulls in its category - even though it is built in aluminum, a material that’s known to be very robust but often resulting in a heavier sailboat.
It should prove to be particularly fast, judging by its sail area to weight ratio of 19.24 m²/t and the presence of daggerboards. Inside, several layout configurations are offered: 3 or 4 double cabins and 2 or 3 bathrooms. It is of course by cutting back on volume - reduced freeboard and a discreet nacelle - that the manufacturers, unlike most of their competitors, have achieved this remarkable result. Some might point out the very dated lines, with a 1990's feel (there’s a certain look of the spirit of Gérard Danson's Outremers or Erik Lerouge's plans) ... But we can't wait to test this Open C Cat4800!
