Is a new type of boating soon to set its example? In 2023, environmental concerns have definitely moved up a notch on the agenda of the various players in the marine industry.
Natural fibers, recyclable resins, electric powertrains and even hydrogen, mass solar energy, life cycle analysis - manufacturers are multiplying their initiatives, whether through pragmatism or conviction. Charter companies are installing drinking water filters on their boats to save the waste from thousands of plastic bottles every year. Offshore racers who don’t want to stay docked are imagining circular races to avoid return trips on cargo ships or adopting a numerus clausus for limiting numbers in the construction of new boats. It’s up to us simple boaters to adapt our own habits too, so that our children and grandchildren might also enjoy the joy of sailing on our beautiful... blue planet.
