Boat shows in 2021 saw the emergence of a certain number of electric drivetrains (whether diesel-hybrid or otherwise) proposed by our shipyards and engine manufacturers. An attentive ear down on the pontoons and along boat show aisles revealed that few (too few?) customers were ready to switch to this new type of propulsion.
Reliability, complexity, speed, battery recharging, range, cost and after-sales service were all obstacles that looked difficult to overcome for the vast majority of future buyers. And this simply highlights the scale of the challenge ahead. Well, this year, the awareness of green and virtuous boating has hit home. While in 2021 only two out of ten prospects dared to ask about alternative and respectful engines, since this fall's boat shows, we've seen a 180-degree course change. According to many manufacturers, eight out of ten boaters are now systematically introducing the subject to their dealer or agent. It's encouraging news for the many companies now offering more ecological solutions. And a true awareness of Forever Green!
