This time there wasn't going to be a miracle. The Americans, 6 to 1 down, would not be able to turn the tide, as happened during the exceptional final of the 34th America's Cup in San Francisco.
Dominating in every aspect, the New Zealand catamaran consistently (you could even say easily!) outperformed her opponent.
It’s now up to New Zealand to decide on the future of the oldest sporting trophy still in play. Will the America's Cup continue on catamarans? On foils? With rigid wing sails? When? What format? The holder of the trophy holds all the power - as we could see with the Americans, who decided to create THEIR cup...
Whilst we wait to find out more, congratulations to the amazing New Zealand team and their incredible helmsman Peter Burling, just 26 years of age.
