This project is in a way the culmination of the two-decade vision of Francis Lapp, the founder of the Gdansk shipyard where more than a hundred Sunreef luxury catamarans have been built since 2002. The entrepreneur has never ceased to believe in the potential of the catamaran as an essential platform for superyachts.
This 49 M is being launched in collaboration with Imperial Yachts (a familiar name in the world of superyachts) and this is the agency representing the client. The figures quickly make you dizzy: 17 meters (56 feet) in beam, 17 crew members, and 1,000 m² (10,750 sq ft) of living space for 10 guests... In short, the level of luxury on board will be unprecedented for the Polish brand. The construction hall in which the build is starting has just been completed on the yard’s new site: Sunreef are indeed leaving their historic workshops in the old port. The two 3,400 hp engines and 90,000-liter (23,775 US gal) fuel tanks will offer an exceptional range - more than 5,000 nautical miles. After having signed a 100’ motor boat and delivered the sixth 80 to China, the builder is launching an “Eco” department which will be implementing units oriented towards respect for the environment.
On the program: new techniques developed in-house, supply of clean energy and use of natural materials. After a first 50 and a 60, two 80-footers are on order - one sailing and one with electric motors.
A website dedicated specifically to this range has just gone online: www.sunreef-yachts-eco.com
