It took 11 years of development - and as many prototypes - before François Tissier launched his folding and transportable catamaran. His Iziboat is all the more accomplished as the first model has already had two seasons on the water, and has been tested by 1,200 crew members!
The polyester hulls adopt a modern design with inverted bows and a generous volume – 16.5 cu ft (469 l) per float; the structure and rig are in aluminum. The advantage of this new model is, of course, that it can be disassembled - and so transported and stored - very easily. The manufacturer even suggests by bike. Possible indeed, but on flat ground, as the Iziboat still weighs in at 335 lbs (152 kg) – the same as a Hobie 16. Suitable for everyone, this small multihull has proper seats and is operated intuitively thanks to a joy-stick. The mainsail with vertical battens can be furled around the mast. As for those who want to have fun on the water, they’ll be able to choose the powerful genoa.
