The MOD70 Maserati breaks the record!

The Mediterranean record has been beaten. On March 21st, after a long run that started at 1:18 am, the MOD70 Maserati crossed the line in 7 hours, 50 minutes and 44 seconds – an average speed of 24.71 knots over the 195-mile course.

The wind was strong at the start with 25 to 30 knots, gusting to 38, dropping only slightly in the Strait of Bonifacio... before picking up again, allowing the trimaran sailed by Giovanni Soldini and his crew to complete the route in a cloud of spray with a powerful run at 35 knots. This was enough to beat the record, and they just bettered the time by 2 minutes and 47 seconds. The previous record, set in 2016, was held by the trimaran Phaedo3, another MOD 70.
