Multihulls World n° 201

Multihulls World is Celebrating its 40th Anniversary... and with New Momentum!

Your favorite magazine was born in 1985: Back in the day, sailing on two or three hulls was already pretty popular in the fields of dinghy sailing and ocean racing. On the other hand, multihulls were still very rarely used for cruising. In England, however, a few naval architects and boatbuilders had been exploring the subject since the late 1960s. But it was in France, in the mid-1980s, that ambitious and visionary shipyards began producing cruising catamarans in any number, starting with the revolutionary Louisiane. This Joubert/Nivelt design launched by Fountaine Pajot is undoubtedly the ancestor of our modern catamarans. This was followed by the Lagoon 55 in 1984, the Privilège 12 M in 1988... So it was at the very beginning of the new era of cruising multihulls that Multihulls World released its first issue - 40 years ago today.

To celebrate this anniversary, we have some excellent news to share with you: since April 1st (no, no, it’s not an April fool!), Gwen Dorning and I have taken the helm of Multihulls World. This is an opportunity for us to thank you all - readers of our magazines, followers of our social media, shipyards, equipment suppliers and advertisers - for your unwavering support. Thanks of course to our loyal team, most of whom are in the photo on this page with Gwen and me to celebrate this new beginning, full of many projects that are as innovative as they are ambitious.

Enjoy reading – and watching!
